Privacy

We do not require an account and we do not collect personal information. A VIN or plate you enter is used to fetch public vehicle data and is cached on our server to speed up repeat lookups. We do not link it to you and we do not sell data.

Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and whether the carVertical link was clicked. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data (such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP, and device/browser information) as described in Google's privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser settings; the decoder works fully without them.

Terms of use

The information here is aggregated from open and public sources and is provided "as is", for reference only, with no warranty of accuracy or completeness. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a purchase or any decision. Model names decoded from a VIN pattern are heuristic, not official records.

The "Check full history" button is an affiliate link to carVertical. If you buy a report through it we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.

Data sources

Vehicle data comes from the open sources credited in the footer, used under their respective licenses (public domain, CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, OGL and NLOD).
